Prentice H. Terrance
First Lady, Friendship Baptist
Church
Prentice Horton Terrance, a woman
of class, dignity and determination. God has richly
blessed us with a down to earth, practical, yet friendly
lady. Her love for her husband and children can be easily
seen in the support she gives to each. Sister Terrance
is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was educated
in the public schools of East Baton Rouge Parish. She
received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern
University in 1992, in Business Education. She was raised
and adopted by her loving and devoted grandparents,
the late Sterling, Sr. and Josephine Horton. Prentice
is the eldest of three siblings, Tiffany Wright of Austin,
TX and Patrick Wright of Charlotte, SC. Her birth mother
is Carol Ann Horton of Baton Rouge, LA. Prentice married
the Reverend James A. Terrance, Jr. on June 4, 1994
and God has blessed this union with two sons, Jalen
Ashton and Tyler James.
While teaching for 10 years in the public school system,
Sister Terrance co-sponsored “The Young Ladies Club”
and TLC “Teens Living Clean.” Since her arrival at Friendship,
she has continued her work with young girls and children.
She organized the Ladies of Distinction ministry in
2003 for young girls ages 13-18. She has formerly served
as Superintendent of the Primary Sunday School Department.
She has initiated “The First Lady Luncheon” which is
held twice a year for the women of our congregation.
Prentice has also initiated the “True Love Waits” abstinence
program focusing on teenagers of the church. She accepted
the invitation to serve on the Board of Directors of
